Now that we have that all cleared up I'd like to respond to the remainder of your email.. Ahem.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I think that about covers it, thanks for writing in sparky.

No one deserves to be hated.Just hate the car if you can come up with a reasonable reason to hate the car.

Oh, but I have nothing against his car. I have something against him, because he has pissed me off. "How has he pissed you off, O mighty and humble Max?" you ask. Why, he has adequately proved to me that he is stupid. Stupid people piss me off. I hate people who piss me off. Can you follow the logic here?

Mad Max try the DARE program... it was designed for people like you. =P

jealous bums, you wish you had a sentra. Base model has lots of torque early at like 2300. Pretty awesome compared to a civic or mustang which usually start at 6000 and 5000 respectively.

Man, it is brutally clear you have no clue what you're talking about. So shut the fuck up before you embarrass yourself any more. Mustang's torque comes in at 5000? Please.

most street V8 have their torque throw out 2500-6000 rpm (say 300lb/f@ 2500, 330@ 3500, 310@ 5500)

fucking moron

Mad Max drives a super sweet 70 stang which would kill your sentra easily (stock) and 20 years later, it will still worth alot of money(if u keep it nice and clean Max)

Response to 65: One of the things that bothered me most about a NEW Sentra when I tried driving it was its lack of any real low-end torque. I don't care what your numbers say, because mine (Carpoint) tell me that the base Sentra engine makes 129 lb-ft at 2400 rpm, and the "upgrade" engines make peak torque at 4000 (175 or 180 lb-ft).

So, let's compare. I had an old Thunderbird, with the 3.8L v6, arguably a crappy (but long-living) engine. 215 lb-ft @ 2400 RPM. One of Mad Max's cars is a SuperCoupe. 315 lb-ft from a sturdier version of the same engine with an Eaton roots-type blower. My base-model Mustang, a purely average performer, even with a 5 speed, makes 230 lb-ft before it hits 3000 rpm, and it has enough low-end grunt to hold and accelerate any of the first 4 gears at any speed above 20 mph. Modular 'Stangs (4.6L) do make their maximum torque a little later, but they still have enough "down low". Don't even get me started on the next Cobra.

129 lb-ft might be pretty good for an entry-level Japanese car with a 4-cylinder, but the same money can buy you a lot more torque if you want it. And RWD cars don't suffer from "torque steer".

I've driven your wonderful Sentra. The torque isn't that astonishing, and the engine sounds like it's screaming for help when you stomp on it.

Edit: And if you want to talk about "old-school" muscle like Mad Max's Mustang or a half-decent Charger or somesuch, you're WAY out of your league.

1970 Stang is what Max drives? Disgrace of a car, its older then I am. Guess what is its blue book value? You guessed it, blue book does not go back in prehistoric times for car prices. 20 years from now they will use it most likely in a movie as one of the cars that gets blown up.

Lemming I agree with you, however think of it this way when you try to drive a car. It is faster if you double clutch (raise revs and drop clutch in). And also FF and FR cars feel totally different when driving. If you drive an FF Sentra SER you would feel like its faster then 4WD subaru wrx, but subaru is actually faster. Its a difference between push and pull that you feel.

As far as torque steer... I dont mind it. i dont really race cars, I prefer to do stunts which work pretty well so far.

A 1970 Mustang, ESPECIALLY our current #1 non-ricer, is hardly a disgraceful automobile, especially with a tuned-up 351. I don't care to speculate about the resale value, but many of this on this site would like to have such a car, but lack the knowledge/time/money to do a proper restoration or restomod.

After I get out of college and get sufficient funds, I intend to ditch my current Mustang and get something like a '92 GT with a 302 and look into getting it supercharged. Either that, or I'll consider stroking that little 3.8 of mine out to 4.2 or 4.3 (which has been done--it's a Ranger truck engine) building the little sucker up, and putting forced air on IT.

I think that pretty much sums up my opinion about cars--I like "old-school" pushrod engines, RWD, and so on. They're all very crude and unsophisticated things, but they get the job done very well. And torque steer sucks even in a daily-driven application. My mother used to have a Maxima. Squirrely as hell.

You really are dumb. Who cares about the stupid blue book value? And what the heck is ff and fr? I wish I had a sentra? HAHAHAHAHAHA! I wish i had a holden monaro with a ls6. I wish i had a zo6 corvette. I wish i had a 2002 pontiac firehawk. I wish i had a 2003 cobra, but it sure as HELL don't wish i had a craptacular nissian sentra. Oh, and about the torque of a mustang... V8's make lotsa torque! WTF are you talking about! Fricking mustang has more torque from at idle then your stupid nissian does at any time! And thats sad, considering there isn't a whole hell of a lot of torque when your idleing! The 5000 rpm thing is peak torque, not when it starts making torque, idiot. Your making me go into battleboard mode, damn it! Your probably a guy that thinks that 240 hp at 8300 fricken rpms is wicked cool! God! Just shut up you pathetic, ignorent rice boy! Btw, fwd is merely a crutch for the weak

Lemming if you like those type of cars you should probably check into an older version of mustang, the kind that does not have a governor nor requires a smog check, they dont need to know whats under the hood of that car after you modify it. Most cars nowdays are governed to either 110 or 140 and have very strict smog control. Good luck on your future car man. I actually plan to get a different car too later on, but i will keep it secret for now from others to which import it will be. Will eventually supercharge it and mod it for speed and looks.

WhiteBird101... FR = cars with engine on the front and rear wheel drive.
FF = front engine, front wheel drive. And no car has its max hp at 8300, because most cars redline way before that. If a car can go to 8300 rpm thats pretty impressive. Now 101 dont you just feel bad when a ricer has to explain to you things as simple as this?

GODDAMMIT!, Someone hold me back before I reach out and pop this little twerp's eyeballs out, MySentraGotTowed is almost as bad as Cash, but at least he doesn't swear as much. But I think we've' hit a new riceboy low, my car is superior to yours because it has higher resale value, I don't freakin' believe it! Don't take it to hard Max, there's still guys like me who appreciate old cars. ANd Sentra, if you knew anything at all about cars, you'd know the proper terminoligy is FWD for Front wheel drive and RWD for, well, I'll let you try and figure that one out

I'm not too worried about governors and emissions. I live in FL--we don't do smog checks to get our cars recertified anymore. So I can pretty much do whatever I please, so long as nobody knows about it...
As for governors, those have been electronic for a while. A little bit of custom EEC programming will fix that nicely. Just ask some of the Thunderbird fanatics--their cars are governed to a bit under 110, but most of them can tell you for a fact that they've gotten their cars up to a vastly higher speed after some reprogramming (and an aluminum driveshaft or similar).

As for max HP, 8300 RPM isn't TOO far off for some cars:
Integra R: 195hp@8000 RPM
Honda S2K: 240HP@8300 RPM

I think what Whitebird is saying, though, is that he doesn't like to have to wait until the tach is over halfway to the redline before the power starts to kick in. I agree.

Lemming, that reminds me of a civic i test drove. I just was very frustrated at how much I had to rev it for it to get any power. :(
In Cali we have way too much laws regarding emissions and stuff, gets pretty annoying, because cars that are stock but have just a header would sometimes not pass. Just wondering to overcome a governor don't you need a custom ecu? or can it be done simpler?

Low-Tech Redneck chill man. RWD and FWD are terms, but FF and FR are not wrong, they are more professional. Because MR and FR are both RWD. Got it? =P

i feel shame hiding behind the wheels of a nissan.
i'd be proud to be a owner of a restored 1970 mustang.
u dont know shit about anything

age of the car doesnt mean any thing. so u'd rather drive a 2002 sentra over a 1950's ferrari that worth over 1/2 a million dallors? it's old....

lol nissan kid is a stupid fag. im lauging so hard on comment 74 ,77.

no car can pass 8500? well V8s can if u have the right cam. for racing. 11000 rpm no problem

and what the fuck is up about those FR, MR, FF crap u are talking about? too much GT3 lately?.shelby cobra - FR, weigh split 50/50. and that's back in 65. in drag racing, u want more weigh at the rear wheel no mater what. FF cars? the faster it is, the less traction it has.
