Ok first off, I don't have a Mustang. I *do* have a Mercury Topaz out back that's on blocks and surrounded by weeds. There's also a pile of old tires about 10 feet to the left of my Topaz. 120 hp after mods? What kind of nissan are you talking about? The cheapest nissan (11k car) has 130 hp stock. And thats a basic model.
Other nissans just go up from there. And dont compare v8 mustang to it, compare a 32k car to a 32k nissan and see what you will get. (dont be surprised if all manufacturers put out similar power for similar price).
And guys stop fricken bitching about mods. Theres nothing wrong with having a wing or a paintjob. Different people like different things, and obviously you guys like to bitch and whine about how jealous you are of other peoples posessions. |

Obviously, riceboys can't grasp the fact that some people think their cars are garbage, so they assume these people are jealous. Why the would I be jealous of a damn Nissan? I can go to any used car dealership in the world and buy one. The same goes for any Japanese econobox. Hell, the same goes for any V6 Mustang or Camaro. Or Cavalier. Or Neon. Or anything else that ricers like to screw up with their cartoony, pseudo-racecar "mods".
If I'm jealous of a car, I say something to the effect of "God damn I want that car," not "That car sucks." If I say that a car sucks, that means I HATE it, not that I LIKE it.
Face it, ricers: You may think your rides are "tight", but we think they're a joke. That's why we're laughing.

Well, let's see, NissanDrivenOffACliff, $32,000 will come damn near buying you, starting next month, a 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra with a supercharged DOHC V8 producing 390 horsepower with handling that rivals a Corvette Z06 (doesn't quite match it, but it's a lot cheaper,) or a 2003 Mercury Marauder, also with a DOHC V8 producing 306 horsepower and 315 ft/lbs of torque in a full-on luxury muscle sedan.
Now, the only car that Nissan makes for the U.S. market that enters the $32,000 price range (BECAUSE THEY MAKE LOW-END ECONOMY CARS, GENIUS) is the new 350Z. It has 280 horsepower and 260 ft/lbs of torque, and loses to both the Marauder and the Cobra on the drag strip, the Cobra on a road course, the Marauder by FAR in luxury, and is more expensive to maintain than either. Gee... what a tough comparison. Nissan.... Cobra or Marauder.... decisions, decisions.

| Yeah, but you gotta bear in mind that there are some little difficulties in getting an R32 here. After shipping fees, licensing, registration, taxes and titling (all problems, since it isn't an American-market car, and it isn't an antique) are taken care of, you're realistically probably looking at closer to $42,000. Plus, we get into the realm of personal preference, and in my book, you've gotta get up pretty early to beat FoMoCo muscle. Hell, I'd take a Mustang Cobra or a Marauder over any Porsche short of a 911 Turbo or GT2... with the money I'd save, I'd be EASILY able to mod the Ford to beat the Porsche. Imagine the look on ol' Dieter's face after he gets his ass handed to him by a big ol' American land yacht... and BTW, fuck exclusivity. I want a good car, not a good name. |

ok uhm...let's see about this nissan versus mustang thing...anyone know the hp to dollar ratio?or even the wieght to hp ratio?and how much would it take to boost a nissans hp up say 100hp and boost up a mustang 100hp...without nitrous turbos or superchargers?

2002 mustang 3.8...18,080msrp...193hp...about 94 dollars per hp...4appx 4 dollars cheaper...
2002 mustang gt 4.6...23,220msrp...260hp...about 89 dollars per hp...appx 9 dollars less per hp...
cobra mustang...33,125msrp....390hp...about 84 dollars per hp...
these figures are from the manufacturers...the math was done by dividing the hp into the msrp...as you can see...the mustang beats the import in price per hp in every level of performance...as in the lowest performing mustang to one of the highest...

| www.motorex.net, max. Skylines already prepped for US emissions (california actually) and street legal. 1990 R32 GT-R, 40k Miles, $28k. I'd take it, just because I would like being the only guy on the block with one. They're not exactly pokers, either, and a few basic bolt ons will put em right in the league of the cobra. easier to launch, too. but that's me. |

Mad Max for 32k you can get either a top of the line silvia, cheap skyline, or mod a sentra to be faster then a mustang. And 350z thats coming out would actually kill a cobra on the track, but for now its only talk until it really comes out and there will be a race.
irocpilot your prices are a bit off. V8 cobra does not cost 20k, it cost 32k. and v6 is slightly more expensive. check out fordcars.com for msrp. Usually hp is proportional to $$ spent on it, unless you talk about mercedes.
Rest of you guys... really lay off cosmetic mods flaming. Not every car is built for speed, its a sense of style, but you probably wouldnt know much about it since all you do is get jealous of good looking cars. |
