Stop ragging on fucking imports i like domestic cars too but some cars would smoke your piece of shit mustangs. So stop fucking talking about them.

Ok first off, I don't have a Mustang. I *do* have a Mercury Topaz out back that's on blocks and surrounded by weeds. There's also a pile of old tires about 10 feet to the left of my Topaz. Now that we have that all cleared up I'd like to respond to the remainder of your email.. Ahem.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I think that about covers it, thanks for writing in sparky.

You guys said that many people here have took the governor off their car (domestic) to make them go over what they are limited to. Just wondering whats the top speed you have ever achieved in it? I remember my friends fiero which has speedo going only to 90, but his car on a way to Vegas went around that speedo twice. (its a very old model, no governors).

RR = Rear wheel drive, engine behind the rear axle.

My Thunderbird SC has touched 145. I think I could get 150 out of it, but it'd take like five miles to accelerate that extra five mph. Never top-ended the Mustang, but I've hit 125 in it and still been accelerating hard. Judging from the engine build, tranny and rear-end ratio, I should be able to squeeze 160-170 out of it at least.

ran over the speedo twice?! 90 mph was the limit, 130 mph once around, so u are saying a fiero could go 260 mph on flat land? give me 850 buck, im going to buy one tomorow

No not 260. First time around 90. Second time around I dont know what that is since speedos are not too accurate at very high speeds. If its all perfect then 180.

I have talked to my friend who used to be a professional racer in phillipines and they used to run cars there at such speeds 170, 180. No limiters. He said we should be able to get our cars to that too, but I am not really sure. My sentra maxes out usually between 130 and 140. On rare cold nights it can go over 140 but it has to cover lots of distance for that.

yeah, well my truck has hit 119! Imagine what would happen if I hit you then! (my speedo only goes to 85, but I got paced by a friend.)

I seriously doubt your Sentra could go that fast (170). Besides, you'd need lots and lots of room. LOL

I've only hit 120 in the Stang but that is due to a limiter so graciously put in by the Ford company. Since the car isn't mine, though, I'm not allowed to mess with the engine in any way. Damn.
On the bright side, my friend Westly owns a 96 Z28 that I've had up to 145. For comparissons sake, my friend Patrick has a 92 Integra and it is a nice car...just not something to race in. It took too damn long to get it to 120, and that car was freaking out by then! Shitty little things when you get down to it.

I might believe 130-140 in the Sentra; that seems to be stretching it a bit, but it's possible. But 180? BULLSHIT. Unless that Fiero had a worked SBC or a Northstar V8 in it, it just isn't possible. And it's not like if we all take off our governors, we could be doing 180 in Tauruses. There's a little matter of horsepower to take into account, too. But then, you wouldn't know anything about that, would you, NissanTowed?

I don't know the top speed of mine, the speedo tops out at 100, darn those Carter-era junk speedos! Oh, and Nissan, just for comparison, the ugly, low tech, unreliable domestic 72' Camaro Z28 (please note sarcasm) had a speedo that topped out at 150, not bad huh?

Didn't the 69 Chargers have one that went to somewhere between 160 and 180? (though the stock car couldn't)

I've had a new SS up to 160, in 5th gear. computer limiter. '69 Charger's speedos went to 140, I believe, which was beyond the stock gearing.

I've had my 95 Z up to 130 and it had plenty of go left (Speedo goes to 155).

Oh, and it didn't take very long to get there ;)

A 2000 Kia Sephia goes 120 mph according to Car and Driver, so I don't see why a "modded" Sentra couldn't go 130 or 140....unless that 120 hp rating on NissanDriven's site is correct (Sephias have 131 hp).

Oh, and '68 Chargers had a 150 mph speedo. I think 140 is reasonable for them (4 speeds and a 3.55 rear limits top speed, but that helped a Hemi Charger could do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds on Polyglass tires--wow).

150 is not out of reach even for a 440 Charger the problem with top speed in a Charger is aerodynamics.. the "Fake Fastback" the 69 Charger had created drag and the grill as trapped air that's why the Charger 500 was introduced in 68 it had a Flat grill and the window was brought out to be even with the sides. Thus creating a car that was more aerodynamic.

Mad Max: maybe you said this before, but what is in your mustang? what engine? how much HP? Do you have a dyno?

My friend has a modified 1972 camaro...and while the egine is capable of high tripled digit speeds...the body just wants to fly away!! :)

I've hit 145 in my S2000 in 5th and shut her down. I think I would probably max at around 160. If the aerodynmaics weren't a brick she would run more like 170!! :)
The Cd on an S2000 is .42 or some shit!! :) It might look aerodynamic....it aint!!

When I get my vortech kit put in...I'll make another run at it...see what I can get it up too.
