So after receiving quite a few emails regarding an article in the current issue of Mopar Collector's Guide (January 2005), I finally got around to getting my hands on a copy of the magazine. They did an excellent full page write up on the site although they referenced a few things that changed in this summer's site redesign. So if you're a MCG reader checking out the site, here is a quick run down of the changes:

The "You Know You're a Riceboy If..." and the Riceboy Rules were in the now defunct Articles section of the site. That area didn't receive much love so I axed it. I may have to put those two articles in the current Stuff section though.

The Defense section is another area that got the axe. There weren't too many people that wrote in to defend their cars and the people that did write in didn't have pictures of their cars on the site. Although that section is gone, anyone that is ticketed is free to create an account and post in the comments section if they see their car on here.

Top Officers will have to make a come back at some point, I just have to find the time to put that together.

The store is the final area that isn't here anymore. I got rid of it since I wasn't sure of the quality of the merchandise in there and I would rather sell no merchandise then half-ass merchandise. I do occasionally offer ticket books and quality t-shirts for sale, keyword occasionally.

If you want to check out the old ticketed vehicles you can see them in the Gallery or to view them with commentary just go through the Old News. I'm planning on adding a bunch of search features to the site so people can see exactly what they want (again, when time permits).

That about covers it. Thanks again to Mopar Collector's Guide for the excellent article. Definitely check the magazine out if you see it on the newsstand.

well, we will just have to see what the charger is when it is released. personally, i think i for one am going to like it. and just because you think it wont be what you like, doesnt mean that it wont be what anyone likes, just remember, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. as far as the picture you linked to, sure, the stripped down chargers didnt have many luxury features, but take a look at the options that were available on the r/ts and especially the se.

I can't speak for anyone else, I can only speak for myself. I also never said that no one could like it, I merely pointed out why I'm not going to like it. That's what the ability to comment is for....discussion and the sharing of opinions.

Re Luxury: Once again, the keywords there are "optional". But even a fully loaded Charger RT was far from a luxury car. A few electric features, a defroster, and more stitching in the seat covers does not make a luxury car.

check into the charger se, it had more features than the r/t. and those little options, like defrosters, leather seats and a/c were luxury features back in the 60s and 70s. if you look at the cadillacs and other luxury cars at the time, they didnt have very many options that you couldnt get in a charger or most of the other large muscle cars.

#23, Yes, they were luxury features, but a car having them does not automatically make it a luxury car. Nearly every car back then - certainly every muscle car - had those same features optional.

The reason Cadillacs and other luxury cars were luxury cars is they were luxurious. That is, plush, large, quiet, smooth, and softly sprung.

I think Luxury's different for everybody, but every car has a certain amount of 'luxury", whether it's a cheap cup holder and pull-out ashtray or handsticthced leather seats and secret compartments in the dash to store your hundred year old wine. Every car in the past century has claimed at least a moderate level of comfort for the driver. To me it seems the new high performance cars out today like the Mustang and the Magnum are striving for an almost family friendly image, as opposed to the old "It's got a 427 Hemi and leather seats, what more could you want?" idea. Personally I'd take a 68' Charger or Challenger with a 440 Magnum even if the driver's seat was made of thumb tacks.

I couldnt agree more, Id rather have a stripped down car with just the performance related options. When I drove the Magnum, I drove the most stripped down version available. It still had power everything, leather seats, and all kinds of other goodies. The problem nowadays is this, most people are spoiled with the luxury items and there are not enough people that would buy the stripped down cars to make it worth while for the companies to produce them. About 10 years ago or so, you could still get stripped down cars, but they sat on the lots for a year or two before people bought them. Its just too bad, makes the new performance cars out of most peoples price range.

My whole point was this, and this only....If you look at the way dodge marketed the Charger originally, it was a family sedan with some luxury features, then they did what everyone else did with the same class of car, stripped it down, put their largest engines in it and made a muscle car out of it.

Well, I just picked up the January copy of this magazine to read the article about Ricecop... fantastic write-up. ...and the other articles were excellent too, being a Mopar nut myself (starting with my dad's '57 341 Hemi DeSoto Fireflite), I found the whole magazine very interesting...I may end up buying it on a regular basis, or maybe even get a subscription.

...though, that article about the wheel-standing General Lee got me pissed off... I hate seeing people getting unjustly screwed over. I hope that guy gets his damn Charger back.
