Although my first thought from the tail shot was that they were Ford Sierras (sold here as the Merkur XR4Ti), one of them has a Mitsubishi logo on it. Maybe they're late '80s Lancers.

The silver one, the blue one, and the black one are Mark 3 Escorts (the first one sold over here). The red one is a Fiesta, I think.

They look like space ships.... and they built them only to realize afterwards that 4 cylinders can't reach warp speed. so they just put wheels on them and figured they'd try and fit in with the trend.
