I am new to this site but from what I have read you guys seem a little hard on these kids. (Yes, I'm only 21 and still a kid somewhat I guess) Some of the cars really look bad, not rice but bad. (ex. bad paint, poor fitting body kit, and so on.) A lot of the cars you call rice take a lot of wrench time and to some degree are a quality product. The "rice" owners are usually 16-20ish and have little experience with cars. They get their inspiration from movies like The Fast and Furious. So, to them they are doing things right. As they age their taste will mature and they will realize the error of their way. From looking at your profiles most of your cars suffer from rust or other old age issues. Don't talk crap about other peoples if your car isn't up to par. Rice is an attitude! If some jerk pulls up with a crappy civic and says "My car is F*ck'n bad ass!" then he is a ricer. If some kid pulls up in a crappy civic and says "It's a work in progress" the get off his *ss.
Not every car is what your style, don't hate something because you specifically don't like its "styling". I don't like classical music but I don't go around talking sh*t about Beethoven. Go fix your cars up some and stop bashing other people. Would you like it if I talked sh*t about your car?

You could take 10 years sculpting a perfect likeness of Abraham Lincoln out of lunchmeat, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be impressed. Ten years of trying to stop a leaky faucet also isn't impressive when you finaly fix it because any competent person doesn't take that long to do it. So no, wrench time or money invovled does not mean squat if the finished product is crap.

If it can do that, (and it does on a daily basis) then it's up to par with me. When the guy in the next lane to me has the exact SAME car, except maybe but has plastic body kit bumpers attached to it and a wing, and he's talkin' smack about how he's the fastest most badass car guy around, now who's not being up to par? And my car may be 25 years old, but because of the horrible way mr ricer is treating his car and the boneheaded stuff he's done to it, it won't last even 10 years before it's on the scrap pile. Long as they keep making parts and I keep up on maintenence mine will run indefinately. The difference is, I acknowledge what my cars condition is, riceboy pretends his is superior based on mostly visual mods alone. That's why I laugh, because it doesnt' take any skill at all to put stickers on somthing, or rip off your stock bumper and attach a goofy-looking replacement, nor do either of those make your car go faster, perform better, or do anything else of value, other than make you stand out, and I hate attention-whores.

I don't give a fuck, so go ahead. This crap about hurt feelings, what are you? 11? We all stopped crying home to mommy a long time ago. If you're so fragile your world falls apart if someone doesn't like your car, you need counseling. |

| #9, Yes, one needs to realise the traits of the car he is driving. Take my car for example. It's severely underpowered but it's a good handler. If I were to race it (not haul stuff around: it's roomy and comfortable) I'd autocross it and humbly expect not to be last (in my class), not drive to the drag races and behave like my car was t3h sh1t. Also, if I were to modify it visually (as most ricers do) I'd tint the windows a bit, put an Eibach Pro Kit suspension upgrade with a bit of drop and put some 15 inch black powdercoated wheels on it. Of course, I could put 20 inch spinners, hydros, 5 inch chrome exhaust tip, park bench wing and bondo body kit on it... but the question is: what is more stupid? a sub-80hp car with mild modifications or a sub-80hp car that looks like a fucked up race car wannabe? |

But if some 16-20 year old dude was to pull up next to my car in a crappy Honda civic and tells me it's a work in progress I'd feel compelled to bitch slap him. Japanese economy cars are built for doing only two things: Commuting and saving you money on gas! If I had a dime for every Civic with a wing/fart cannon/bodykit/lame decals, I'd be a freakin' millionaire, I think member on this site would be. Anyone who thinks that kind of modification to that kind of car is necessary is an idiot who wastes their money and their time. Rice is just a stupid fad that has long overstayed it's welcome and by the looks of it, isn't going away anytime soon. At least have the goddamn common sense not to be a tool and deck out your mommy's econo box just because Vin Diesel does it! |

You guys have really valid points! I put a lot of that just to stir up the sh*t. I really expected more f*ck you *ss face, but thanks for being mature about it! Low-Tech-Redneck: Your opinion of the finished car being crap, like the meat Lincoln, is crap though. In all honesty (or as far as I can tell) your opinion is worthless except to yourself. But, someone does need to keep on the ricers to get them set right. This site is great for that but sometime the comments are not constructive criticism, rather just bullsh*it.

Finally, the Eibach kit is a blessing. I had mine installed about 4 months ago and LOVE it! It lowered the car about 1.5 inches and really made the suspension firm. Great for the corners, bad for the bumps.

| #12, The your suspension set-up is out of whack. Proper set-up is stiffenss at long bumps (dips in the road, etc.) and softness at short bumps (potholes, speed bumps). |

This car is a "bad example" of rice. Its actually not that bad. No overdone stickers, clean, no wierd color patterns, everything is even. Only major flaw is the dual rear body kit w/ a single exhaust.
LTR's specific comment is crap: Actually, a lot of us feel that way. He can have a work in progress project and still have that rice attitude as he may be going in the opposite direction (Fiberglass unpainted hood - WIP; with hood pins the size of watermelons - Wrong direction). When the work is done he may say his car is fast.
There are some immature folks on here that would have gotten mad. Others know when someone's just trying to push buttons. We then correct them, give them some chips, and invite them to browse the site and be shocked. |
