I've seen a picture of a Mercedes van with a Citroen 2CV body welded to the top in a very similar fasion.

I don't know...I don't hate this. It's just so damned quirky, and it's not like he ruined any rare or irreplaceable cars... I kinda like it.

This reminds me of the ricers who drive around with alloys on the front and steel wheels on the back, right idea, wrong execution. Putting the top of a beetle on a bus was a moderately common mod on split window buses, and even the occasional bay window, but always with beetle windshield in front and never on a Westfalia. I guess the bong hits and bondo fumes addled his brain.
